How to wear Brogues: THE new and improved edition!

Brogues, Brogues, Brogues!

They’ve been around for many years and well, we’ve all seen them around. We’ve seen them on the street. We’ve seen them in our favourite shop window. We’ve seen them on really cool looking peoples feet and we’ve all lusted after this look for ourselves.

Not sure how you can incorporate a brogue into your wardrobe? Well look no further!

There’s the usual advice. For instance – ‘how to wear brogues with dresses or pants’, etc but how about taking it that 1 step further?

Lets take this all the way.

Here is your ultimate guide to wearing brogues different! Cherri bellini Italian street style different! And don’t think you cant do this – everyone can wear brogues its up to you how you wear them – the bolder the statement the better!

(Or however you like – its totally up to you.)

Lets go!

1. Bold and beautiful: colour me all the ways!

FullSizeRender20

Make the brogue the focal point. Its all about wearing your footwear as the star attraction. Don’t be afraid to buy a brogue in a  crazy bright colour. Whats that I hear you say? You dont wear red, or yellow or green so how can you wear a brogue with nothing to match it?

That is the POINT!

No need to match when its the shoes that sing. Repeat after me – the brighter the better! The bolder the better!

2. Super dressy.

As in black tie dressy: patent and metallic all the way!

FullSizeRender18.jpg

Remember when you were little and your patent mary-jane shoes were ONLY for those special occasions? Nothing much has changed if you ask us. Except wearing your special shoes all the time but lets not regress here!

Patent and metallic leather equals dressy in our opinion and if its dressy you want, patent leather is what you should get.

3. The clash.

Here is our advice – put on your favourite outfit that you would normally wear with say,  your favourite flat strappy sandals or a cute high heel, actually put it on. Like right now.

NOW PUT ON BROGUES FOR INSTANT CLASH FACTOR!

See, that was easy right?! The key here is to put an outfit together, whatever it is, and pair with brogues for an instant street feel.

If at any point you think a particular outfit wont suit a brogue, then challenge yourself to see it a different way.

Break the rules. We dare you.FullSizeRender26.jpg

4. Classic with a twist.

Twist the tried and tested basic brogue and lift the look with some super fun laces and different coloured fringes!

(We sell gold and silver metallic fringes and they are awesome fun!)

Or take it one step further and invest in a classic brogue shape – but with a metallic finish!

Fashion should be fun, effortless and ultimately an extension of you.

Do what you want.

Dress how you feel.

Break the rules.

We do. You should too. Have fun!

How To Wear Sneakers – Like A Grown Up

jeans and sneakers street styleWhen comfortable things become fashionable – you better believe they are worth their weight in style points. Like sneakers. No longer a fashion faux pas and now totally fair game for stylish dressers the world over. ‘Yeah right!’, we hear you saying, ‘I’m too old to wear sneakers out!’, but trust us, you are going to love us for helping you style this season’s essential shoe.

So – how do you wear sneakers (outside of the gym and in public) and still look like a lady? read on…

1. Keep the vibe casual. Think of wardrobe staples like jeans, cardigans, t-shirts and comfortable blazers.

2. Add a sleek hand bag or an oversized scarf depending on your mood.

3. Step up the game by pairing with dressy tailored items like trousers, sharp blazers, and dresses (and revel in being dressed up with super comfortable footwear).

4. No sportswear! Unless you are going for a sporty chic look, but this is super tricky to manage a classy twist on, so leave the leggings, hoodies and yoga pants for the gym.

Adelaide Festival Season: WOMADelaide

WOMADelaide: 8th to 11th of March

Held over four days in the sunning Botanic Park, WOMAD (World Of Music, Arts and Dance) is a diverse international festival delivering world music, art, dance, food and culture to the city of Adelaide as WOMADelaide. Expect high calibre performances from all over the world and covering many different styles and genres.

The feeling is relaxing and carefree, with a real social atmosphere. Our tip is to pack a picnic for the day with a pop up shade (but don’t leave your valuables if you head off for show) and include warmer clothes for when it gets cooler in the evening. Have some snacks and drinks and you will be set (but no glass)!

Tribal Style

With all this in mind, dress comfortable. There will be many different styles and cultures on show – so be yourself! Something like a loose maxi will see you through day and night –  and amp up the festival style by adding tribal inspired accessories. We love these feathered sandals from Chocola!

If your feeling balmy, how about a beautiful pair of sandals to pair with your cutest summer dress? These Keep sandals work with any outfit and are super comfortable…

Adelaide Festival Season: Adelaide Fringe Fashion

We are drawing ever closer to the best time of the year here in Adelaide (in some peoples humble opinion). February 14 sees the start of the Adelaide Fringe festival, Womad pokes its head in and the Adelaide Festival arrives – just to name a few! With so many options to fill your social calendar, it’s hard to know where to be, when and, of course, what to wear. Here at cherri we have made it just that little bit easier to flit from a gig here, a pop-up bar there or music show- and know your going to feel fabulous and look your best. Starting with Fringe Festival we will give you lovely ladies a breakdown of what to expect and how to rock it fashion wise. Enjoy…

ADELAIDE FRINGE FESTIVAL – 15 Feb to 17th March

fringefashion w.o.shoesjpgAztec necklace

First to kick of proceedings is the Adelaide Fringe festival. Renowned for it’s diversity and creativity the Fringe covers all multitudes of events, gatherings and shindigs, from cabaret to comedy, puppetry to pop-up locations, and involves the whole city. With a carnival like feeling, dress for comfort and fun and be prepared for and night of spontaneity. Think balmy summer nights wandering the garden, grabbing last minute tickets to a show in the city or popping over to Gluttony. Go with a fun print in in simple cuts and add cool accessories, like a backpack or a statement necklace like one the above (available from cherri bellini). Unleash your creative side. That’s the whole idea!

The Loafer Trend

The Loafer Trend

We at cherri bellini whole heartedly endorse being comfortable while staying sophisticated. High heels are indeed one of the most fabulous things to grace the earth – but of course not all of us can wear them all day, all week, all the time (or even for longer than a couple of hours in some peoples cases, *ahem* mine). To keep you looking fresh, polished and on your feet; enter the loafer. Dubbed as the new ballet flat, these bad boys will see you through work, socialising and beyond. Sweet!

A bit unsure how to wear a shoe that looks more at home in the boudoir? We hear you! But don’t stress. They are so very versatile, and perfectly wearable all through the year, including the Australian summer. Pair with shorts, skinny jeans, dresses (maxi, middy or mini) or any thing inspired by menswear also fits the bill, since they were originally a men’s shoe. Feeling daring? Rock the pyjama look and throw them on with billowing silk pants, or even the matching suit. Cue inspiration!
