How to wear Brogues: THE new and improved edition!

Brogues, Brogues, Brogues!

They’ve been around for many years and well, we’ve all seen them around. We’ve seen them on the street. We’ve seen them in our favourite shop window. We’ve seen them on really cool looking peoples feet and we’ve all lusted after this look for ourselves.

Not sure how you can incorporate a brogue into your wardrobe? Well look no further!

There’s the usual advice. For instance – ‘how to wear brogues with dresses or pants’, etc but how about taking it that 1 step further?

Lets take this all the way.

Here is your ultimate guide to wearing brogues different! Cherri bellini Italian street style different! And don’t think you cant do this – everyone can wear brogues its up to you how you wear them – the bolder the statement the better!

(Or however you like – its totally up to you.)

Lets go!

1. Bold and beautiful: colour me all the ways!

FullSizeRender20

Make the brogue the focal point. Its all about wearing your footwear as the star attraction. Don’t be afraid to buy a brogue in a  crazy bright colour. Whats that I hear you say? You dont wear red, or yellow or green so how can you wear a brogue with nothing to match it?

That is the POINT!

No need to match when its the shoes that sing. Repeat after me – the brighter the better! The bolder the better!

2. Super dressy.

As in black tie dressy: patent and metallic all the way!

FullSizeRender18.jpg

Remember when you were little and your patent mary-jane shoes were ONLY for those special occasions? Nothing much has changed if you ask us. Except wearing your special shoes all the time but lets not regress here!

Patent and metallic leather equals dressy in our opinion and if its dressy you want, patent leather is what you should get.

3. The clash.

Here is our advice – put on your favourite outfit that you would normally wear with say,  your favourite flat strappy sandals or a cute high heel, actually put it on. Like right now.

NOW PUT ON BROGUES FOR INSTANT CLASH FACTOR!

See, that was easy right?! The key here is to put an outfit together, whatever it is, and pair with brogues for an instant street feel.

If at any point you think a particular outfit wont suit a brogue, then challenge yourself to see it a different way.

Break the rules. We dare you.FullSizeRender26.jpg

4. Classic with a twist.

Twist the tried and tested basic brogue and lift the look with some super fun laces and different coloured fringes!

(We sell gold and silver metallic fringes and they are awesome fun!)

Or take it one step further and invest in a classic brogue shape – but with a metallic finish!

Fashion should be fun, effortless and ultimately an extension of you.

Do what you want.

Dress how you feel.

Break the rules.

We do. You should too. Have fun!

The Statement Stiletto

DEC_CB-213

Talk about knock-out! Make the shoe the focus piece and keep accessories to a minimum. We love this heel with a shift dress and simple accessories for a dressy Christmas party or a night out. pink-shift Go for a more casual look (did somebody say drinks with the girls?) and pair with jeans and a silk shirt. And there you have it!jeans

The Bright Wedge

DEC_CB-324

Take your wedge through its paces with an awesome race day appropriate outfit, or rock this pretty, slimline wedge with a floaty summer dress. Wedges are the easiest shoe to dress up and down – so have fun! Outdoor parties, ’tis the season, the wedge is the perfect way to get some height without sinking into the grass! Go for a a slim line wedge for a dressier look with the benefit of the comfort of the wedge.

sdress

Pair your wedge with a bright dress for the ultimate summer outfit which would work for coffee catch-ups, lunches and would look lovely for a Christmas day BBQ. Equally the slim line style and elegant look of this wedge dresses up perfectly with a long play-suit or dress and up-do for an outing like the the races or a chic summer party.polo

The Court Shoe

DEC_CB-244

Heels don’t have to be sky high. There are some beautiful low heeled shoes available these days and if you aren’t comfortable in your shoes you won’t enjoy yourself! Stay low for understated sophistication for events like after work drinks or that dreaded ‘smart casual’ theme.

corp

We love this tan court shoe paired back with a simple colour scheme like olive green, black and beige, but will work with so many different summer colours – think blues, pinks and of course white! Don’t feel like this shoe will only work for the corporate things hanging in your wardrobe either. For the very reason you love them for work (think comfort, style and easy to pair back with all your clothes) this little baby will rock an off-duty look too.

Adelaide Festival Season: WOMADelaide

WOMADelaide: 8th to 11th of March

Held over four days in the sunning Botanic Park, WOMAD (World Of Music, Arts and Dance) is a diverse international festival delivering world music, art, dance, food and culture to the city of Adelaide as WOMADelaide. Expect high calibre performances from all over the world and covering many different styles and genres.

The feeling is relaxing and carefree, with a real social atmosphere. Our tip is to pack a picnic for the day with a pop up shade (but don’t leave your valuables if you head off for show) and include warmer clothes for when it gets cooler in the evening. Have some snacks and drinks and you will be set (but no glass)!

Tribal Style

With all this in mind, dress comfortable. There will be many different styles and cultures on show – so be yourself! Something like a loose maxi will see you through day and night –  and amp up the festival style by adding tribal inspired accessories. We love these feathered sandals from Chocola!

What to wear for the silly season

Everyone feels like a total social butterfly at this time of year. The invitations flow in, the weather means more outdoor soirees and well there are plenty of excuses to let our hair down and dress up! And we love to be the centre of attention, be it for our fabulous shoes, impeccable dress sense or perhaps that joke that we got from our dad (or maybe not). The one thing we don’t want attention for is for a dud outfit or the dreaded outfit repeat. *gasp*

The trick is dressing smart. Pick versatile pieces that can be easily transformed, say a dress that doubles as either a skirt or a top with some clever layering. This is the time to let your fashion taste shine – and literally too. Update any look with a bold statement necklace, a splash of sequins, a studded clutch and dramatic lipstick and glam your way though the office shindig, friends dinner and family lunch.

With your clothing set, you need to go for a shoe that will work hard for you, no matter the situation. Nude is the colour de jour for all this sparkle and shine, and the best thing is that it suits every outfit and will blend in with your skin tone and make your legs look super long! Here is our pick for the perfect nude shoe…

This is the best time of year for making statements – and the best way is with a beautiful stand out heel. Throw it on with a white dress, or even something else bright and enjoy the compliments rolling in. Here are our favourites, and maybe even an early Christmas present? ;)

Happy Holiday season everyone, and remember: the most beautiful thing you wear  is your smile, and a nice pair of shoes to put it there ;)

Polo is the new Racing – but what to wear?

We have all dreamt of a Pretty Woman moment when our handsome (perhaps wealthy) stranger whisks us away to fabulously well-to-do events like the polo, and we shine like Julia Roberts does in her brown and white polka dot ensemble. Well that moment is a little easier to recreate now with the Paspaley Polo in the city, bring the horse mounted game to a capital city near you.

Like the racing, expect a fun atmosphere, social setting and getting up close to the game itself. But don’t dress for a racing carnival. With a light hearted atmosphere the style is more laid back and very chic. keep reading for our tips on what to wear to make sure you come out winning in the fashion stakes.

Polo-in-the-City-in-Centennial-Park (1)

Shoes A key element to any outfit (and our favourite, of course) but super important with any polo ensemble since we all know that stilettos and grass do not mix. You do not want to be the lady sinking into the grass, whilst trying to stay glam.  (And yes, even in the marquee’s or tents most socialising and polo banter will be carried out on grass floors). One of the traditions of the polo is the ‘stomping of the divots’ or pushing all the little holes made by the polo players back into the grass with your feet. Hence appropriate footwear is essential to be involved!  Wedges are the best option if you are going for a heel, since they wont let you sink. Another option is the jewelled flat to keep things dressy but comfortable. If you are trying to keep things clean and elegant, a nice simple flat is the way to go. Think a ballet flat in neutral or a classic leather sandal.

Head ware  Ladies, do not wear fascinators. The only head wear should be appropriate to sun protection! A beautiful hat does wonders for an outfit, so think summery with broad brims and pops of colour.

hat polo

Dress Look the part in a beautiful white number, whether floaty, or tighter, longer or shorter, but remember that as a daytime event: keep it classy! So not too short ladies ;). A floral maxi will also see you through with top style points. Dresses with floral prints or in bold block colours will work brilliantly with the outdoor setting. If a dress isn’t your thing, make a summer statement with loose pants and a bright kaftan over the top. Equally, if it is a bit cooler, tailored pants and a nice shirt will look fresh and sharp.

Here is some inspiration for you!

Handbag Remember that you will be out all day, and carrying a cardigan or jacket is necessary for if it might turn cooler. Think a shoulder bag big enough to fit the essentials on the day, but nothing to big that you will have trouble lugging it around all day. This Laura Di Maggio would be perfect…
